Toi-Gye Tul

 

Definition:

(37) Toi-Gye is the pen name of the scholar Yi Hwang (1501–1570), an authority on neo-Confucianism. He is one of two most prominent Korean Confucian, the other being Yi I (Yulgok).

 

The 37 movements of the pattern refer to his birthplace on 37th latitude.

Details:

3, 6:

Side back strike with the back fist while extending the left arm to the side downward perform in slow motion.

 

7-8:

Pressing block with an X-fist and then execute a high vertical punch with a twin fist in a continuous motion.

 

9:

Middle front snap kick (keep the position of the hands).

 

12:

Twin side elbow thrust perform in slow motion.

 

13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18:

Executing a W-shape block to C with the outer forearm while forming a sitting stance in a stamping motion.

 

23, 26:

Low side front snap kick (keep the position of the hands).
